Staub Cherry Enameled Cast Iron Round Cocotte, 2.75 Quart Review
that part of the lid really has me worried because I feel it traps cooking moistureit is easy to use and the customer service has improved since the Germans purchased this French-German company. I wouldn't buy it again but I bought this during the introductory castoff sale on Amazon. The Cherry is the same color as the Pimento as far as I can see.
The black interior scrapes off on the rim if you knock it with the lid and chips can easily happen and since the pot is so expensive, you suck it up and tell yourself, it's FRENCH country rustic.
I've never owned any of the ones with enamel/porcelain interior but my corning white bakeware gets those gray fractures very quickly so I can't imagine it's a genuine joy to see that showing up on your pricey Le Creuset or cheaper Lodge knockoffs. The lid does make these types of pots "ovens" so there is that.
I can't really see how to make these pots more popular other than lowering the price so they are affordable at the Target level. It takes less technology to make than an iphone but I can get an iphone on a two year contract for cheaper than I can get these pots in a useful size - something to think about it.
They're selling a Williams Sonoma fantasy to people. I do use it frequently because my older much abused Calphalon steel pots are in decline but when I need a clean pot to bake in, I have no problem using the Calphalon pans with their glass lids and never loose steel handles in the oven and at higher temps to do the same job - but they don't look as PRETTY.
We are paying for how it looks.
