I purchased this set as a gift for a special friend who had just moved into a new condo. The set is even better than described on Amazon. They are simply beautiful and are dramatic pieces of art. They are waterproof and will not leak however my friend is not going to do so because they are so beautiful as they are. They are made out of highly lacquered wood and the Amazon picture does not capture the beauty of the wood and the striations in the wood. Hebi Arts is based in Oakland,CA and has an excellent website describing who they are and with bios of the artists. Their pieces are sold through high end stores such as Gumps and Nieman Marcus.
The packaging was also excellent. It was double boxed. Vased well packed in a box and then shipped in a larger box surrounded by packing peanuts. Great gift for very reasonable price. I did research for lower pricing and Amazon had the best.
