Product Description

Snap-posts and hook-and-loop fastening strips allow you to attach these stair treads to most wooden basement steps! Includes: stair treads (13), snap-posts (26), 7/64 drill bit (1), measuring stick (1). You need a drill, #2 Phillips screwdriver and pencil (not included). Installation time is 30-60minutes. Installation Instructions: Make sure stair surfaces are clean and smooth. 1. Determine location of stair tread on step. Using a pencil, mark a small line on the step at the location of the stair tread's side edges. 2. On the underside of each stair tread there are 2 "looped-fiber" strips pre-attached to "hooked-fiber" strips that are sewn to the stair tread. Locate "looped-fiber" strip labeled "back". Remove only clear protective covering from this "looped-fiber" strip, exposing adhesive backing - do not remove "looped-fiber" strip from rug. 3. Place measuring stick on back of stair, it will be used as a spacer. With carpet side facing up, align sides of stair tread with pencil marks and place back edge of stair tread against measuring stick. Press down firmly over back of stair tread ensuring that adhesive-backed strip is firmly in place. 4. Gently remove stair tread while making sure the "looped-fiber" strip remains attached to step. 5. Press down on surface of "looped-fiber" strip ensuring that it is firmly attached. 6. There are 2 small holes in the "looped-fiber" strip (1 hole at each end). At the location of these holes, drill pilot holes into step using included 7/64 drill bit. 7. Screw a snap post into each pilot hole. 8. Snap the buttons located on the back of stair tread onto installed snap posts. 9. Fold back front edge of stair tread. Remove only clear protective covering from front "looped-fiber" strip, exposing adhesive backing. 10. Pull front edge of stair tread down firmly and attach to riser. Apply pressure starting at center and working outward. Repeat steps 1-10 for remaining stair treads.
