The A290 dissembles into 22 parts for detailed study, with minimally visible stable connectors that attach at the skull sutures for simple reassembly of the individual bones. The A290 has a natural cast for accurate representation of the human skull, with 22 bones: parietal bone (left and right), occipital bone, frontal bone, temporal bone (left and right), sphenoid bone, ethmoid bone, vomer bone, the zygomatic bone (left and right), upper jaw (maxilla) with teeth (left and right), palatine bone (left and right), nasal concha (left and right), lacrimal bone (left and right), nasal bone (left and right), and lower jaw (mandible) with teeth.

I am a radiology resident working at a hospital in Japan. Everyday I read many CT and MR images and it is critical to be familiar with the human anatomy.

The skull is the most complex bone in the body and I had been feeling difficulty to understand the structure, in particular the nasal cavity, the paranasal spaces, the skull base and the foramina. The palatine bones and the sphenoid bone are also complex. I read many books about anatomy but the effort was unsatisfactory. Finally I thought getting a skull model would be the best way to understand it. Because I wanted to see each bone and inside the paranasal spaces, I bought this one. My decision was right. This model is very helpful in understanding the anatomy. Every bone are easy to assemble and dissemble and I find no frustration in doing so. I have just bought it so I can not judge if it is tough or not but until now I have no trouble.

Of course this model is not perfect. For example, this model does not have basic structures such as carotid canals. If you want a very realistic model this would be a bit unsatisfying.

Half a year ago, this item could not be shipped overseas. Now international shipping is available for this item and I appreciate Amazon's service.
